![]() The worst part? The replacement of fast passes with genie plus and lightening lanes. We’ve been here lots of times over the years and whilst it’s still the best theme park in many way (great food options, restrooms everywhere and generally well organised), it’s not quite what it was and so I’d think carefully before returning. Had a wonderful week staying in Disney world. Uber is also a great option, but if that tech eludes you, Universal is still very friendly to making your trip seamless ahead of time, making it magical from the time you arrive. However, I booked it ahead of time with my package (annual pass, hotel, shuttle). The friendly wonderful service we used to have on the Magical Express. They even gave us a lanyard and a coupon for Hard Rock Cafe. You can pick a premier hotel, have free express passes, boat rides to citywalk, and a more laid back experience for much less than even basic packages at Disney.Īlso, we were able to book the Mears shuttle from the airport to Universal (previously the Magical Express buses and area). Spend your money here if theme parks is what you are looking for. We even have workers at the resorts that stop by and ask us if we need anything (this hasnt happened to us at a Disney resort in several years). Eating at the resorts is not the chaotic experience that the Fisney resorts has become. We love pool hopping, eating, sitting around fire pits late in the evening and roasting marshmallows. The Express pass, charge privileges on your room key card, delivery of your items delivered from the parks to your room for free, great sit down restaurants that still have full menus, and more of an experience at the hotels. It is what Disney used to be like, maybe better. Hagrid's Magical Motorbike, the Hogwart's Express, and the Velocicoaster are our favorites. Universal continues to add to the parks and has some of our absolutely favorite rides. However, the experience to get to those rides is so awful that Universal wins hands down. ![]() Please note, overall, I prefer many rides at Disney. We pool hop, eat a leisurely lunch, and head into the parks later in the day. Our annual pass allows us a discount on these hotels. We now stay at hotels with the water shuttles (game changer, and is worth it). We even had a group of staff dressed as gypsies that took 20 minutes out of their day and entertained my daughter personally! We had numerous experiences with EXCELLENT staff (something that rarely happens at Disney anymore). However, with rising cost and longer waits, we have switched to Universal. We used to visit Disney World yearly (from Texas). Delete categories that are not applicable. We decided to purchase the annual pass this year to Universal.
